Summer Journal

HEY EVERYONEE!! Kirstie started summer break yesterday, she brought her report card home, all A's & B's! WAY TO GO GIRL!

We did our first craft together yesterday too. A fun summer journal.

Here are our materials:

A left over composition notebook ( can get these at the dollar store )
Scrapbook paper & different embellishments
Scissors
Mod Podge high gloss
Paint Brush
Construction Paper

To begin we picked a color construction paper and applied mod podge to the cover of the book, position the construction paper on the cover and smooth out. I let the mod podge dry before i cut off the extra paper. While the mod podge is drying on the cover, flip the book over and mod podge the back cover and repeat the steps for the front cover.

Next, we went through out scrapbook papers and embellishments, deciding what we wanted to use and where. Once you have an idea of what you want to use and where you want to use it, remove it all, mod podge the entire construction paper area, and replace all your paper and embellishments.

You can work on the back at the same time if you open the book and have it layed out flat.

Once the mod podge is dry, apply another coat ALL OVER. Cover the embellishments and paper, making sure it is completely covered so nothing falls off.

Once everything is completely dry, you can begin working on the inside, for her first entry we added a flower and leaf to the fist page, put some mod podge on the paper where you are going to apply your treasures and then once that is dry apply some on top. DO NOT CLOSE THE BOOK while the mod podge is wet.
